November 1-3

It is the first day of the month, and also Friday, which means that First Fridays is upon us in Grand Center. Enjoy the fall exhibitions at the museums & galleries which will be open and free until 9pm! There will be a DJ spinning at KDHX and live music from Point of View Jazz Ensemble in Strauss Park. The Contemporary Art Museum invites you to warm up with hot chocolate tastings from Botanical Roasters; show your city pride with St. Louis-inspired emoji button-making with STL Style House and dance to the sounds of DJ Syna So Pro. It's going to be a great time!

Also on the 1st, get a closer look at the universe when National Geographic LIVE! with Astronaut Terry Virts: A View from Above chats it up at Touhill Performing Arts Center. Virts will share images and stories he gathered on his travels through space on the shuttle Endeavor.

I would love to join you, however, Cardina and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding Anniversary, off sailing the seas for a few days!

The 1st offers something more… Big Love: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac at Delmar Hall. Something special indeed!

On the 2nd, an all-day event, the In Motion Film Making Conference is a true venture into creativity. There will be over 30 speakers, 200 filmmakers, and a happy hour, all at Covo, a great co-working space in Downtown STL.

If you're looking for a little more art on Saturday, you can head over to Kirkwood for their Artist's Boutique which will feature over 50 artists and a variety of mediums.

St. Louis Pet Fest is upon us on Saturday in St. Charles. where you can shop, play, learn, and adopt as you check out awesome exhibitors with the latest and greatest in pet products and services all at the Olympia Athletic Center.

While you are in St. Charles, you can check out the opening reception of Fantastical Funk & A Fairy Symphony. You can meet the artists at this gallery exhibition while enjoying a festive atmosphere, live music, hors d’oeuvres, and beverages at Art Meets Vintage.

Among so many other things, St. Louis has an amazing craft beer scene. The BrewHop STL craft beer tour gives you a chance to learn more about it while you spend the afternoon or evening on the bus learning about, and drinking some great beer while you visit unique microbreweries.

Those who are touched by Cystic Fibrosis got a big win last week with the announcement of a new approved treatment! My friends are continuing to search for a cure as they host their annual Charlie's Angel's Trivia Night on Saturday.

Starting on Monday the 4th, the St. Louis Jewish Book Festival fills up a generous couple weeks of literary excitement through shared stories by outstanding authors.

Crazy Bowls and Wraps in Creve Coeur invites you to stop by from 11am-8pm on Wednesday the 6th for special offers and prizes to commemorate their 25th Anniversary! The first 25 attendees will receive a swag bag. Now you know what’s for lunch!

The Monocle Emerald Room spices up the weekend from the 7th through 9th with Incubating Now: A Benefit Cabaret, Trans Spectrum Conference, and Boom Boom Burlesque, plus an extensive, jazzy cocktail menu for every taste.

The Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl annual celebration of music and dance returns to Cherokee Street as part of the Nevermore Jazz Ball 2019! In addition to great music and food at a variety of venues on Cherokee Street, there will also be an all-styles dance battle with DJ Nune at 2720 Cherokee St.

Stargazing with friends and family on a crisp autumn evening might be the perfect outing on Saturday the 9th. The Green Center Fall Fire Festival promises a pleasant time under the night sky, as well as fire performers, food trucks, and kids’ activities. We love fall!

For all you dance enthusiasts, it’s definitely awesome that two days - not just one - are devoted to the Inaugural Big Muddy Dance Fest -- Saturday and Sunday, the 9th and 10th. Event highlights include classes, workshops, vendors, and more -- fun for sure.

Join the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Tau Center in Kirkwood for An Evening with Mike Roberts: Climate Change from the Vatican to the Pentagon on Tuesday the 12th. Roberts, a former meteorologist, hosts a discussion of great importance that is sure to engage and enlighten the community.

On Monday the12th and Tuesday 13th it’s once again time to dance…in your seat, at least…when Tommy Halloran’s Guerilla Swing plays tunes that will have you swaying at The Sheldon. Enjoy the evening!

Can you believe how fast the holidays are approaching? Get in the mood for Scrooge (and for a great show), because on Thursday the 14th and Friday the 15th Big Muddy Dance Company presents "A Christmas Carol" at Edison Theatre set to live music.

On Saturday the 16th, this is your chance to get information on a topic that many of us have been curious about: How to Publish Your Own Book: What You Need to Know at the St. Louis Publishers Association event.

Join the fine folks at Consuming Kinetics Dance Company for their second ever Trivia Night! The theme (you guessed it) dance, in celebration of their 10th Season as a company! In addition to some great trivia, you'll enjoy a performance by CKDC's Junior Company, a Silent Auction, Raffle Drawings and First Place Prize to the winning table! The festivities are all at .Zack. On Saturday, the Ameren Missouri Festival of Lights, officially ushers in the Holiday Season with a host of entertainment, lighting of the Salvation Army Tree of Lights, a festive fireworks finale and the Winterfest skating rink in partnership with the Gateway Arch Park Foundation all at Kiener Plaza in Downtown St. Louis!

November 25-30

Concerts start this week off right: Monday the 25th with Dreamers at Old Rock House and Tuesday the 26th it’s Black Mountain at Blueberry Hill.

On Thanksgiving Day the 28th, the morning hours set the tone for a special day when family and friends feast and fraternize. You’ll feel no guilt about filling up on all the fixings (and getting warm and settled!) after taking part in the Olivette Turkey Trot 2019 (the purchase of a beanie enters you in a raffle).

Listen in rapt awe as the ethereal voices of the Vienna Boys Choir fill the majestic space of the Cathedral Basilica on the 29th. This annual concert is a treat to start the holiday season.

It’s jazz night, alright. Combining the sultry saxophone and the flourishing flute, dual artists perform: A Smooth Evening With Jeanette Harris & Althea René at The Sheldon on Saturday 30th.

Then the guitar becomes a galvanizing force. Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute is at The Pageant with Steve Pecaro, Tony Campanella, Mike Zito. Expect surprise guests, also on the 30th.

This is your last chance to enjoy two special events: Circus Harmony Presents and the Pichaske, Lee, and Gallo exhibitions at the Duane Reed Gallery. Both close on the 30th.

Here is the latest Housing Report which shows that the median sales price of residential single-family homes in St. Louis City and County has remained steady, down about 1% from last year to $195,000 in April. However, year to date values are up 3%, and pending sales are up 9.6%. If you have any questions about how this affects you, just let me know. I'd be happy to provide some more insight.
